With a view to check destruction of forests, ecological imbalance
and subsequent loss of biodiversity in Gandhamardan region, Gandhamardan
Suraksha Action Committee has given call to save the verdant hill.
In its first meet organised by
Ecosystem Alliance and Regional Centre for Development and Coperation (RCDC)
held at Harishankar on June 25, Swami Sombesh Saraswati, presiding over it,
recalled the earlier attempts to destroy the ecology and biodiversity of
Gandhamardan. He called upon all people to protect it.

Surakshya Action Committee presented the problems of the hill and the need for
maintenance of a biodiversity register.
The programme is being taken up in
eight villages of Nandupalla gram panchayats, informed regional manager of RCDC
AK Gouda, while explaining the aim and objective of the campaign. He too
underscored the need for maintenance of a biodiversity register. While Sushil
Nayak was appointed as spokesperson of Gandhamardan Surakshya Action Committee,
Zila Parishad member Sushil Guru
spoke. A documentary “I am Gandhamardan speaking” was presented by Ananda Kumar
Joshi.
