The dharna before the district Collectorate here by the Lower
Suktel Action Committee, which is spearheading the agitation for execution of
the Lower Suktel Irrigation Project, entered the fifth day on Friday when
former Balangir MP Balgopal Mishra extended his support to the stir.
Mishra said that it was Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik who
laid the foundation of this project in 2001, but even after 11 long years the
project is in limbo. This is due to the apathy of his Government and neglect of
this area and region.
“We are going to intensify the agitation further,” said
Samajwadi Party Balangir unit president Arun Mishra.
