The State Government has decided to supply 6,98,722 quintals of
seeds for the current kharif season. Out of this, 6,72,204 quintals of paddy
seeds and 26,518 quintals of non-paddy seeds will be provided to the farmers.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on
Friday directed the officials of the Agriculture Department to supply the seeds
in time while regularly monitoring the programme. He also advised the concerned
officials to keep themselves abreast of the problems of the farmers as regards
seeds supply.
The Government aims at supplying
9,66,000 metric tonnes of fertilizer including 4, 50,000 mt of Urea, 1,10,000
mt of MOP, 1,75,000 mt of DAP and 2, 05,000 mt of total complex fertilizer. The
Government has targeted application of 82 kg of ferttilizers per hectare for
the Khariff crops this year.
