With a view to check destruction of forests, ecological imbalance and subsequent loss of biodiversity in Gandhamardan region, Gandhamardan Suraksha Action Committee has given call to save the verdant hill.
In its first meet organised by Ecosystem Alliance and Regional Centre for Development and Coperation (RCDC) held at Harishankar on June 25, Swami Sombesh Saraswati, presiding over it, recalled the earlier attempts to destroy the ecology and biodiversity of Gandhamardan. He called upon all people to protect it.
Tikendra Jal of Gandhamardan Surakshya Action Committee presented the problems of the hill and the need for maintenance of a biodiversity register.
The programme is being taken up in eight villages of Nandupalla gram panchayats, informed regional manager of RCDC AK Gouda, while explaining the aim and objective of the campaign. He too underscored the need for maintenance of a biodiversity register. While Sushil Nayak was appointed as spokesperson of Gandhamardan Surakshya Action Committee,
