Narayan Singh Deo has demanded inclusion of Bolangir district in the recently
announced Biju Express Highway to boost connectivity. In a letter to Chief
Minister Naveen Patnaik, he said that the exclusion of Balangir district from
the Biju Express Highway has spread resentment among people.
The Biju Express Highway is a novel venture by
the Naveen Pattnaik Government which aims to create an economic corridor
through the KBK and western Odisha. The whole purpose is to spur economic
development of the area. As the expressway would pass through one of the most
backward regions of the State, ie the KBK region, it would help boost its economy.
