MANPOWER, FUND CRUNCH: B’NGIR BIKE
27 December 2014 | PNS | BALANGIR | in Bhubaneswar
Bike patrolling introduced in Balangir town just two months ago
by police has been stopped due to shortage of manpower and money.
two years of introduction of PCR van patrolling, the Balangir police had
started motorcycle patrolling in the town area. The police personnel were seen
moving in bikes in different streets and residential areas where the PCR vans
could not reach easily.According to sources, at least 12 more police personnel,
besides funds, are required to further resume bike patrolling. But leave alone
bike patrolling, even manpower shortage in Balangir police stations has not
been sorted out.The PCR van service came as a big help for the denizens of
Balangir during last year. It had helped curb crime to a great extent. That
apart, the PCR vans helped shift people from accident spots to hospitals.
