BAIJAYANT SEEKS QH TO BEGIN AT 12 NOON

MP Baijayant Panda has urged Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to shift the
Question Hour from 11 am to 12 noon.
“Question
Hour is an integral part of Members’ ability to keep the Government accountable
to its citizens. Unfortunately, it is subject to disruption when members wish
to bring up Zero Hour matters during Question Hour. Shifting of Question Hour
and Zero Hour will make both hours more efficient,” Panda said in a letter to
Mahajan.
He
said if the two hours shifted Members would be able to bring up urgent matters
at the beginning of the sitting without disrupting Question Hour. This would
also ensure enough time for Members to ask questions and for Ministers to
answer them.
The
Rajya Sabha has changed the timing of its Question Hour and the Lok Sabha
should do the same, he mentioned in the letter.
