Members of the Balangir Action Committee led
by its president Gopalji Panigrahi on Saturday submitted a memorandum to Chief
Minister Naveen Patnaik through CDMO Dr RN Tripathy seeking withdrawal of all
stocks of antibiotic injection Masclav1.2, which were found unusable recently,
and actions against corrupt officials involved in supply of the
injection.
Among others, Gopal Acharya and advocate
Bhavani Satpathy were in the team. Their three-point charter of demands
included withdrawal of antibiotic injection Masclav1.2 (Batch no ML 1485),
testing the vials and conduct of an inquiry to know the side effects if any
patient or patients have suffered due to intake of the injection in hospitals
across the district.
Hospital records show that these injection
vials have already been distributed to Sub-Divisional Hospitals of the
district. The members too showed the CDMO some poor quality injection syringes
which were for use at the DHH. They also expressed concern that the Sunstroke
Ward at the DHH was not equipped with adequate facility and poor quality gloves
were being used in the hospital.
