The Balangir town police headed by inspector-in-charge Srimanta
Barik arrested two house burglars, Makund Nag and Sahyam Sundar Suna, and
seized valuables worth of around Rs 8 lakh including two laptops, mobile
cameras, gold ornaments, coins and currency notes of foreign countries like
cents, wristwatches, sarees and utensils.
The burglars used to target those
houses which were locked due to absence of occupants. Makund Nag a few months
ago had escaped from Bargarh after being involvement in a number of cases
there.
The Balangir police also nabbed one
DS Mahanty of Jagatsingpur district, who was allegedly collecting money from
candidates to arrange jobs for them in the Army. The police seized Army
uniforms from him. A case in this regard was registered in the town police
station.
“We have intimated this matter to the
Army authorities for further verification,” informed IIC Barik.
