Madhuri
shines in Women Cricket tourney
Bhubaneswar: International women cricketer Madhuri Meheta
of Bolangir rose up to her reputation, with her all-round performance powered
the team beat Bhadrak by 10 wickets in the inaugural day of the Inter-District
Women’s one-day Cricket Tournament at Nimpur Ground in Cuttack on Thursday.
Batting first, Madhuri bagged three wickets and hermate Rajeswari Nag scalped
four wickets and restricted Bhadrak innings in only 61 runs in 25.2 overs. In
reply, Madhuri smashed an unbeaten 43 runs and team reached the winning target
in 5.2 overs. In other matches of the day, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Khurda and KIIT
defeated Jharsuguda, Angul, Ganjam and Koraput respectively.
Results: At
Ravenshaw University Ground-II: Jharsuguda 79/10 in 21.2 overs (Asifa Khatun
32; Bidyutprava Singh 3/11, Jhilirani Mahanta 3/32, Suman Mahakud 2/12) lost to
Mayurbhanj 81/1 in 15.4 overs (Sanjita Das 33, Bidyutprava Singh 22) by 9
wickets.
At Nimpur Ground: Bhadrak 61/10 in 25.2 overs
(Pragyan Paramita Samal15; Rajeswari Nag 4/08, Madhuri Mehta 3/06) lost to
Bolangir 62/0 in 5.2 overs (Madhuri Mehta 43 n.o;) by 10 wickets.
