Demanding action against doctor Annantaram Meher for his alleged
carelessness and negligence resulting in the death of one Dilip Gochhayat at
the district hospital here on Friday, several residents of the town held a road
blockade before the District Collectorate here with Gochhayat’s body on the
road.
Gochhayat, who was returning to Balangir on Thursday, had
met with an accident when a dumper dashed against him. He was admitted to the
District Headquarters Hospital. However, allegedly Dr Meher only told Gochhayat’s
relatives not to be worried and told them to meet him on Friday.
By this time, Gochhayat also complained of severe pain in
his body, which was also not taken care at the hospital, and as a result, he
died, alleged an agitator, Soumyakanta Panda.
“We believe all this happened due to the negligence of Dr
Meher, and we demand action against him,” said Panda.
However, ADMO BK Dora told mediapersons, “Earlier, we had
not received any complaints against Dr Meher. This matter will be investigated
and necessary action will be taken against the doctor after inquiry.”
