Peeved at the frequent disruption of low power voltage and water scarcity, residents of Balangir town on Monday had given a 72-hour ultimatum to the district administration, failing which, they warned that the administration would be held responsible for any steps they would resort to.
A meeting attended by representatives of the Citizens’ Committee, the Chamber of Commerce and other sections of people and media, denounced the apathy shown by the district administration towards the water and power crisis in the town.
“We condemn the apathy of the district administration towards the crucial problems of water shortage and power crisis. The meeting decided to give 72 hours to the administration to take steps to solve the problems, failing which the administration will be held responsible for any incident,” said advocate Pramod Mishra.
“The problems of electricity and water shortage have been arising with the onset of summer season each year. There should be a permanent solution to the problems,” said Samajwadi Party’s Balangir district unit president Arun Mishra.
