The district administration has drawn up a contingency plan to tackle any drought-like situation in the Kharif season, said Collector M Muthukumar after performing the Akshay Tritiya rituals at Larkipali on Friday in the presence of farmers and district agriculture officials including Deputy Director of Agriculture (DDA) Manoranjan Mallick.“The district administration has decided to take up the paddy cultivation in 1,86.000 hectares of land in this Kharif season,” said the Collector.According to agriculture office sources a total of 14,270 quintals of paddy seed has arrived so far against the requirement of 57,171quitnals in the district.
