SUKTEL WORK CONTINUES AMID VILLAGERS’ STIR
The
agitation by the villagers opposing the Lower Suktel Irrigation Project in
Balangir district continued for the sixth day on Saturday when their stir was
also supported by members of the Niyamgiri Suraksha Parishad led by Lingaraj
Azad and Lodo Sika.
As per reports, members
of Lower Suktel Budi Anchal Sangram Parishad gheraoed site where project work
is being carried out by Odisha Construction Corporation.
When Government officials
reached the site, they found people assembled there. The officials told the
villagers to vacate the place. The officials including by SDPO Narayan Naik,
Sub-Collector Jyoti Ranjan Pradhan and ADM S Minz assured the agitators to
arrange a discussion between them and the district Collector if they so wanted.
