Even as the State’s Chief
Secretary has invited three leaders of the Lower Suktel Action Committee (LSAC)
to hold talks with him, the agitation for the project continued for the seventh
day on Tuesday.
Though the
Chief Secretary, in a letter, has invited three members of the LSAC for talks
on December 22, the LSAC has proposed a total of six names to the Balangir
district Collector as the members of the delegation to visit Bhubneshwar for
the discussion.
“I have
communicated the names of five persons mentioned in their letter to higher
authorities,” said Collector Debraj Mishra to this correspondent.
Udaya Singh
Thakur of the Lower Suktel Budi Anchal Sangram Parishad, on the other hand,
said, “We came to know about the Chief Secretary’s offer for talks from newspapers.
The Government has invited two people from our side. We demand that 11 persons
from our Parishad be allowed to hold discussion with the Government. We will
raise our one-point demand — zero displacement and irrigation. We will intimate
our decision in writing to the district Collector tomorrow.”
