All eyes here are on the
outcome of the talks at a high-level meeting to be held on the Lower Suktel
Irrigation Project at the State Secretariat in Bhubneswar on Saturday.
Chief Secretary Bijay Kumar
Patnaik has invited representatives of both the Lower Suktel Action Committee
(LSAC) and the Budi Anchal Sangram Parishad (BASP) for discussions. While the Lower
Suktel Action Committee demands an early implementation of the irrigation
project, the Budi Anchal Sangram Parishad opposes construction of a dam over
the Lower Suktel river and demands irrigation facilities with zero
displacement.
The names of five delegates
of the Lower Suktel Action Committee have been forwarded to the Government
while the BASP has sent names of 11 representatives.
