Babu on Wednesday expressed the OJM’s solidarity with the agitating activists
of the Lower Suktel Action Committee (LSAC) demanding immediate execution of
the Lower Suktel Irrigation Project.
“I
thank the Lower Suktel Action Committee leaders and members for their
agitation. The Naveen Patnaik-led BJD, in its election manifesto, had also
promised to provide irrigation to 35 per cent of the area in each block. Many
years ago, I had demanded augmentation of the irrigation facility in Balangir
district by utilising the waters of Tel, Suktel and Indra rivers,” he said.
The
Government would have to listen to the demand for implementation of the Lower
Suktel Irrigation Project, he remarked.
