B’NGIR GEARS UP FOR FREE, FAIR ELECTIONS
The district administration will be taking all steps to ensure
free and fair elections to the Lok Sabha and State Assembly here. Speaking to
mediapersons, district Collector M Muthukumar asserted that the district
administration will hold the ensuing polls freely and fairly in strict
adherence to the guidelines issued by Election Commission of India.
He said a special drive
has been launched to enrol persons who have attained 18 years of age by January
1, 2014 in the voter list on March 9. The Balangir Parliamentary constituency
is spread over two revenue districts namely Balangir and Sonepur.
Balangir district has a
total of 11, 38, 679 voters which include 590, 213 male voters and 548, 400
female voters. There are a total of 2,09,804 voters in Loisingha, 2,51,089 in
Patnagarh, 2,10,736 in Balangir, 2,25,713 in Titilagarh and 2,41,337 in
Kantabanji.
