The
Tusura police have launched a manhunt to nab the culprits who attacked and
robbed a cashier of the Andhra Bank’s Bandhpada branch on Saturday morning.
According
to reports, cashier Bustak Mohammad was robbed at gunpoint when he was going to
the bank from Balangir. At around 9.45 am, six youths
near Ardda village stopped Mohammad and opened fire at him. As he fell down,
they took away the money, motorcycle and mobile. The injured cashier was
shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital with the help of local people and
police.
Although there was
complaint of gunshot, preliminary investigation did not support the version,
and the circumstantial evidence pointed out that it was an attack from behind
with iron rods or some other weapons. The details of medical examination report
are awaited, informed Tusura police station IIC Bimalendu Satpathy.
The police recovered the
motorcycle and mobile, which was found in pieces,. The police suspect that the
culprits might have escaped through the Degoan railway station. “We are looking
into all the options and have launched a manhunt to nab the culprits,” said
Satpathy.
