The major Opposition parties, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress, here have voiced their demand for cancellation of the written examination for Junior Clerks, alleging “gross irregularities” in the written examination.

According to a memorandum submitted to the District Collector by BJP activists, led by Prabhas Panigrahi, on Wednesday, a total of 3,518 candidates had appeared for recruitment to the posts of 80 Junior Clerks in the district and the written test was held last year on May 18.

As there was a prolonged delay in announcement of the written test results, there was suspicion of malpractices and irregularities in the entire examination process. With reports of irregularities coming from many areas, the BJP delegation demanded scrapping of the examination and holding it once again.

Similarly, a delegation of the Congress, led by Bhagaban Bagarti, also demanded cancellation of the examination results alleging “gross irregularities” in the process.

According to reports, the rules for conducting the examinations were allegedly violated, providing benefits only to a few candidates.

“We are going to submit a memorandum to the District Collector urging him for an impartial inquiry into the issue,” said a candidate to The Pioneer.
