Attending the Bhumi Puja
of renaming Tikrapada Chowk as Parshuram Satapathy Chowk in the district
headquarters town here on Friday, Rajya Sabha member AU Singh Deo said that
Parshuram got justice after 41 years of his brutal murder and hence, the case
is a glowing example of law taking its own course. He said, “Whosoever is
involved in heinous crime like murder will get punished finally.” A statue of
Parshuram will be installed here and steps would be taken for its
beautification, including construction of a fountain, Singh Deo said further,
praising the effort of deceased Parshuram’s family members who continued their
legal fight over a long period of time without losing patience. His elder
brother Hareram Satapathy was at the core of the family’s sustained struggle to
get justice.
It would be pertinent to
mention here that Parshuram was murdered 40 years ago in Balangir by some
people having link influential persons and recently, the Odisha High Court
convicted nine people in the case. Out of the nine, six are already dead.
Police have arrested one Dhobei Podh while two accused are still absconding.
The Balangir Municipality recently had adopted a resolution to rename the
Tikrapada Chowk as Parshuram Satapathy Chowk. Among others, Balangir
Municipality Executive Officer Santosh Behera, Chairman Santoshini Behera,
several councilors, besides Hareram were present.
