To improve passengers’ amenities,
two coach indication boards and an electronic train indicator board would be
installed at the Balangir railway station soon. This was announced by
Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) of the East Coast Railways (ECoR),
Sambalpur Division, Birendra Mundia at a Press meet on Monday.
Besides, four CCTV cameras would be
installed at the railway station. However, Mundia declined to say anything on
commencement of Khordha-Balangir Railway line work from Balangir side. Besides,
some scribes suggested for opening of more number of ticket booking counters
and provision of better amenities, including toilet facilities at the station.

Ahead of the presentation of the
Railway Budget, Balangir MP Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo has demanded that the
Union Government allocate at least Rs 400 crore for the Khordha-Balangir rail
line construction work.
The MP also demanded opening of a railway wagon factory at Kantabanji to
boost local economic development and employment opportunities to local youth
and a direct train from Balangir to Delhi, besides demanding extension of the
Ispat Express train to Kantabanji and a direct express train to Allahabad from
Balangir He also demanded installation of
coach indicators at the Balangir railway station and the station’s
upgradation.
