B’NGIR SHIVA DURGA PITHA WITNESSES LARGE FOOTFALL
Tuesday, 07 October 2014 | PNS | BALANGIR | in Bhubaneswar
The Shiv Durga Pitha, located at the foothills of the Puja Pathar hill near Malpada village, 27 km from here under Deogaon block, is one of the few lesser-known Durga Pithas of the district.
However, the place has its specialty as both Lord Shiva and Goddess Durga are worshipped here with great devotion. Goddess Durga is being worshipped here for the last four years. Prior to this, she was worshiped in a house.
Notably, no animal sacrifice is done at the Shakti Pitha, said the chief priest of the Pitha. He further informed that on each Krushnapaksya Asthami Tithi, worshipping of the deity is observed with Chandipatha and Rudrabhishek.
Though located in obscure foothills, people still visit to the place to get blessings of the goddess from the Shakti Pitha.
