LABOURERS SEEK TO CAST VOTE

The Dadan Goti Shramik Suraksha Manch on
Tuesday submitted a five-point charter of demands to all the candidates
belonging to the BJD, the Congress and the BJP seeking elections to the
Assembly and Lok Sabha seats in Balangir, Bargarh and Nuapada districts.
Manch leaders Sudhanidhi Podh, Kartika Sabar and Laxmana Dip
submitted the memorandum.The demands are immediate rehabilitation assistance
for the freed bonded labourers as per the Bonded Labour System Abolition Act
1976, jobs to ensure livelihood of their families, Government land be provided
to them free-of-cost, inclusion of their families in the BPL list and ensuring
them of voting rights in the general elections.There are around 1,200 bonded
labourers in the State who are yet to get their rehabilitation assistance,
sources said.
