B’NGIR CIVIC BODY TO FOCUS ON RAINWATER HARVESTING

Keeping in view the depletion of groundwater level in the town and to achieve optimum utilisation of rainwater, the Balangir Municipality would emphasise on approving the provision of the Rainwater Harvesting System in house building plan, said Balangir Municipality Executive Officer Santosh Kumar Behera.

It should be mentioned that in States like Tamil Nadu, the Rainwater Harvesting System in house building plan is a must to be approved by the urban local body. In addition, steps are afoot to clear the choked drainage in order to tackle artificial floods in rainy season, said Behera. Notably, the drainage system in all the 21 wards under the municipality have either been laying choked or marred by encroachments.
