President of the Lower Suktel Action Committee Gopalji
Panigrahi was shifted to a hospital here on Saturday as his condition
deteriorated after seven days of hunger strike demanding implementation of the
Lower Suktel Irrigation Project.
Another fasting agitator, Anu Nahak,
had also been taken to hospital earlier following deterioration of his health.
Meanwhile, according to reports,
several people staged a dharna before project office site Magurbeda, 20 km from
here, demanding adequate compensation to them for their losses in the event of
implementation of the project.
