Diarrhoea has broken out in village Bhoipada of Muribahal block
and claimed life of one Kalpana Saraf (35) while affecting several others.
After Kalpana started suffering from
diarrhoea, she was taken to Sub-divisional Hospital at Titilagarh and she died
there in the night of August 8 while undergoing treatment.
After her death, members of Jana
Mukti Anusthan intimated about the development to the Muribahal hospital.
Getting the information, a mobile health unit with Dr Rajesh Agrawal and Dr
Yashobanta Sahu came to the village and started their treatments, says Bhajaram
Sahu of Jan Mukti Anusthan.
A medical team has been camping in
the village and providing treatment to the people since August 9. Disinfection
work has also been taken up in the village.
Poor sanitation and water
contamination is suspected to be the cause of diarrhoea.
According to reports, a total of 214
persons have been treated and one of them has been referred to Balangir
District Headquarters Hospital, according to Sahu.
Meanwhile, according to reports,
diarrohea has also affected several villagers of Kandhakhal and Dumermunda and
medical teams have also rushed to those villages.
“We suspect the death of the woman in
Titiligarh hospital to be a Malaria-related case and the situation is under
control now,” said CDMO Dr Vikrant Kindo.
Many thanks for the excellent coverage of the incident. I praise you and your News Paper, (The Pioneer).effort in highlighting the death of one lady due to diarrohea and affecting other villagers story, of one of the remote village of Balangir district.
ReplyDeleteThis pathetic fact story of Chandramani families of Bhoipadais like this..He was married earlier and like Kalpana(who is the second wife of Chandrmani ) his first wife hadalso died atmid night affected by diarrhoea in a same situation.
Here I would like to mention that, Chandramani is a migrant labor. Earlier he was staying at Durg and working there as a watcher of a house. But this time he migrated to Mumbai. In his absence his wife died affected by Diarrhoea. After this incident, his family members and villagers reported us.
Another thing I would like to indicate that his elder brother died earlier (committed suicide ),due to the acute poverty. After his death his wife also died after some months due to the unable to survive. Now the children are living with their grandparents in a painful condition. Often they are also migrating to Chatishgarh for survival.
The history of Chandramani's family is very sorrowful and History of Bhoipada also painful. By the suffering of diarrhoea many people of this village have died.Poverty, cholera and diarrohea had taken more life from the village .This time it came for repetition. Fortunately due to concerted efforts of our organization, ward member,GKS,voluenters,Asha,ICDs,and efforts of doctors,it impact was contained checked up for this time.
You also covered it in right time and circulated it for thinkers..So lastly I am again thanking you for your effort.. ..
