After the killing of Balangir BJD MP Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo’s
nominee of Khaprakhol block Rajkishore Panda last year, suspected Maoists
numbering around 25 to 30 on Tuesday night slain Sashiram Bhoi, son of
Khaprakhol block chairman, at village Saangurjee Bhata under the Khaprakhol
police station in Balangir district.
The Maoists came to the village and
inquired about Sashiram Bhoi, who was a contractor executing road contacts in
Nuapada district.
According to reports, as the family
members denied the presence of Sashiram in the house, the Maoists remained
quiet for some time before blocking all exit points of the village, barging
into his house and killing him inside the house by hitting him with a bayonet.
Sashiram was the son of Khaprakhol
block chairman Ganeshram Bhoi of the BJD.
The main reason for killing Sashiram
was a dispute over payment of money, said Balangir Superintendent of Police R
Prakash to this correspondent.
Ganeshram Bhoi had also reportedly
received threats from the Maoists before.
