Even as the panic created by an intruding leopard at Sonepur town
is yet to subside, a report of a man being injured by a leopard in the
Bandhpada area of Balangir district on Sunday created more fear among the
people.
According to reports, Thakur Merli
along with some others had gone to the Suliaamaal forest to graze their goats.
All of a sudden, the leopard attacked him.
As the others raised an alarm, the
leopard fled but only after injuring Merli, who sustained injuries in his hand
and one of his fingers. He was first taken to the nearby PHC and then shifted
to the District Headquarters Hospital here.
Reports said a leopard has been
active in the Suliaamaal area and killing pet animals of nearby villages.
“We have got reports of such an
incident and we are looking into problem. Soon we will sort out the problem,”
assured Balangir Divisional Forest Officer Abhiram Nayak.
