B’NGIR VILLAGERS OPPOSE GAS BOTTLING PLANT

Villagers of Barkani in Balangir district have opposed the proposed setting up of a gas bottling plant in their locality as one of the roads constructed by the bottling plant agency runs through a minor irrigation project, which provides irrigation to 100 acres of land of the village.
“The Banjhimunda Minor Irrigation Project (MIP) provides water for our paddy fields; and the road constructed inside the project would affect our agriculture. Hence, we are opposing it,” said Satya Sundar Bhanj, a local Journalist.
The villagers submitted a petition to district Collector Ashis Thakre on Thursday requesting him to look into the issue and shift the location of the plant.
