BJD HOLDS STIR AGAINST FUEL PRICE RISE ACROSS STATE

BJD members led by Biju Yuva Janta Dal (BYJD) Balangir president Lotus Sarangi and Lalit Nayak held a road blockade in front of the Balangir Collectorate on Monday against the continuous rise in prices of petrol, diesel and other petroleum products.
The agitators raised slogans against the Central Government and Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and held them responsible for rise in prices of fuels.
Similarly, Gajapati district BJD members observed the hartal led by district BJD president Pradeep Nayak and Nagar president Jamidar Patnaik by blocking roads holding a bike rally at Paralakhemundi.Nayak said poor people are suffering a lot and rise in prices of petrol and diesel has increased the transport cost and essential commodities. A bike rally was also organised.
The Ganjam district BJD also observed the hartal led by Brahmapur MLA Dr Ramesh Chandra Chaupatnaik and Gopalpur MLA Dr Pradeep Panigrahi. The members held picketing at the sub-division, block, municipality and the Central Government offices.
Among others, BMC Mayor K Madhavi, BDA Chairman Subash Moharana and Deputy Mayor Jyostna Nayak were present.
Nabarangpur district BJD members observed hartal and picketed at several places and blocked NH-26. About nine block Presidents staged demonstration at their respective block headquarters.BJD district president Prahalad Tripathy, general secretary Ashish Ranjan Patnai, VP Rabi Patnaik, local MLA and District Planning Committee Chairperson Manohar Randhari, BYJD president Siva Bissoyi and BCJD president Dillu Panda participated hartal at Nabarangpur.
Similarly, normal life was thrown out of gear in Baleswar due to the impact of hartal and incessant rains. Schools, colleges and educational institutions remained closed. Though banks and financial institutions were open, yet they couldn’t do any business.
Due to picketing train services were disrupted for hours with halting of a superfast and a passenger train at the Baleswar station.The buses and lorries on certain routes didn’t ply too. Besides Baleswar, hartal was observed at Jaleswar, Basta, Bhograi, Soro and Simulia.

The Joda town BJD members observed the hartal led by president Jitendra Jaiswal, secretary Dipak Satpathy and municipality Councillors were present.Members of the Subarnapur district BJD and its wings BYJD and BCJD also held demonstration at different places in the district. Among others, senior BJD leader Abhimanyu Kushal, district president Saroj Kampa, VP Ramesh Pujari, Prahallad Naik and Bibhudatta Rajhans were present.
