Even
as the Odisha Jan Morcha (OJM) led by Pyarimohan Mohaptarta is all set to
organise its second Kranti Samavesh at Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district on
Monday, curious posters with photos of Mohapatra and late Prime Minister Indira
Gandhi pasted in different areas of Balangir town and at certain places in
Kalahandi district on Sunday came as a surprise.
In
one poster appealing to people to come to the OJM’s Bhawaipatna rally,
Mohaptara’s picture is seen with that of late Biju Patnaik, but it was
considered normal as the OJM has been displaying such posters and cutouts with
a claim that Mohapatra (and not Naveen Patnaik) is the leader who can achieve
Biju Patnaik’s dream for a prosperous Odisha.
But
the other poster displayed close to the first one shows Mohapatra’s picture
with that of Indira Gandhi under the so-called banner of the OJM raised
eyebrows in various quarters.
Mohapatra,
who arrived at Bhawanipatna on Sunday, said that this was an act of mischief by
the BJD to mislead the people. BJD people have desperately resorted to such an
act to bolster the allegation of their leader and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik
that the OJM is a Congress ‘B’ team, he remarked.
Mohapatra
said the OJM has filed complaints with the SPs of Kalahandi and Balangir to
inquire into the display of the posters.
Balangir
District Congress Committee president Bhagaban Bagarti ascribed the
Mohapatra-Indira Gandhi poster display to the internal squabbling of the BJD.
He decried such an act especially on the birthday of Indira Gandhi.
Balangir
BJD MLA AU Singh Deo, however, said that it was not an act of the BJD but of
Mohapatra’s Jan Morcha. The OJM is trying to make its Samavesh successful with
the help of the Congress, he alleged. Meanwhile, it was learnt several leaders
from different parties would join the OJM at its Samavesh at Bhawanipatna. They
include Kalahandi Congress MP Bhakta Charan Das’ elder brother Ajit Das and
senior Congress leader of Dharmagarh Rabi Pattjoshi.
The
police have made elaborate arrangements for a peaceful OJM rally. Ten
platoons of forces led by three DSPs and 10 Inspectors would be deployed at the
college field, the venue of the rally, said Kalahandi Additional SP Dinajanha
Naik.
