MOVEMENT OF 3 JUMBOS NOTICED IN BALANGIR

In a new development, three adult elephants believed to have come from the Kantamal side of Boudh district by crossing river Tel since Friday night last and are moving near villages including Telpali and Makadchuan in Balangir and Deogaon blocks causing alarm among the villagers.
According to reports, these elephants are now near Narayanpur and Makadchhuan villages and likely to move to the Mathkai Reserve Forest.
“We are keeping a watch on their movement. We have collected footprints of the elephants,” said a forest official.
Balangir Forest Range officials in a letter to the Balangir Railway Station Manager have intimated about the movement of the elephants on the Balangir-Titilagarh railway track. Two elephants are moving in the Mathkhai Reserve Forest near village Salemapali adjacent to the railway track. Hence, necessary steps may be taken to avoid any wildlife mishap, said the letter.
