Tusker footprints spotted near Balangir town
Balangir: Footprints of an elephant were spotted in a nursery on
the outskirts of Balangir town on Tuesday. Reportedly, an elephant from
Subarnapur district entered the Balangir forest area on Friday. “When we
visited the nursery, we found the footprints. We have alerted our staff to keep
a close watch on its movement,” said Balangir Forest Range Officer BC Roul. The
rise in day temperature and fire in the forest coupled with water scarcity has
forced animals like elephant to move towards the town areas. Latest report
suggested that the elephant has gone back to the forest of Subarnapur.
