Civet rescued in Balangir
Balangir: A small Indian Civet, locally called Sialpatni, was rescued by local forest officials here on Monday. The animal had entered into a banana godown at Sunday night, after which locals beat it. It was rescued by the local Snake Helpline and deposited in the forest office. “We have taken the animal to veterinary hospital here and it is under treatment,” said a forest official.
World Forestry Day observed at Balangir

Balangir: The World Forestry Day was observed in the district on Monday. Divisional Forest Officer Rashmi Ranjan Nayak, Kenduleaf DFO Prasanna Kumar Sahu, The Pioneer correspondent Sudhir Mishra, Dolagovinda Bisi and VSS members spoke on the occasion. Speakers stressed on the conservation and preservation of the forest and water resources to meet the challenges of global warming and emerging water crisis.
