MEET ON FOREST RIGHTS HELD IN B’NGIR

A workshop on Community Forest Rights under
the Forest Right Act (FRA) was jointly organised by the Balangir district
administration and the District Forestry Forum on Wednesday.
Addressing the event, Collector M
Muthukumar said people should try to protect the forests given to them under
the FRA. A total of 133 community forest claims have been received while 11
community forest right claims given and 75 claims pending for further
examination.
As many as 113 community resource rights
have been received and only one claim has been given while 99 pending, informed
District Welfare Officer Babu Maharana. Resource person of the FRA BB Panda
spoke on different aspects of the FRA.
