Declare December 9^th as Human Rights Defender Day;NHRC secretary Anil Pararshar urged UN

Bolangir ;Secretary of National Human Rights Commission NewDelhi, India, Sri Anil Prarshar has urged the United Nations (UN) to declare 9thDecember, as Human Rights Defender Day, to recognise the effort of Human Rights Defender in defending the Human Rights of Individual.

It would be pertinent to mention here that the United Nation has declared December10 to be observed as International day for Human Rights and it is observed as Human Rights Day to protect and preserve Human rights of people across the globe

Over the years there has  been violations of Human Rights on many times and those who fight for protection ofHuman Rights ,known as Human rights defenders, are facing a lot of trouble.While raising the voice for the protection and promotion of human rights of fellow citizens, the Human Rights Defenders also sometimes become victims of rights violations,says Anil Parasar in an informal chat with this correspondent

To protect the human rights defenders, the NHRC has set-up a focal point for Human Rights Defenders with a dedicated telephone number to take cognizance of issues relating to their rights violations and the NHRC come out with a series of recommendations for implementation by the respective governments at Centre and State level. Moreover in 2013, the NHRC had also written letters to the States with the aim to sensitize various functionaries about the problems being faced by NGOs and Human Rights Defenders so as to treat them as partners and bringing about a positive change in the human rights environment in the States says Anil Parashar further

The NHRC Commission treats Human Right Defender as equal partners in its endeavour towards promotion and protection of human rights.

The UN on 9TH OF DECEMBER, 1998  ADOPTED DECLARATION ON HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDERS, and the UN  recognising  the valuable work done by Human rights defenders, should declare 9thDecember as International Day for Human Rights Defender says  AnilParashar Secretary General of NHRC NewDelhi,India,in an informal chat with this correspondent further.
