At least 10,000 kg of MDM rice, which were meant for school students of Balingir district’s Gudvella and Loisingha blocks, have been shifted to some ghost places or to the black market, thanks to the connivance of the concerned MDM transporter and Government officials.
According to an AG audit report, while 6,500 kg of MDM rice meant for Gudvella block has been siphoned off over two years, a total of 3,500 kg rice meant for Loisingha students found misutilised. It revealed that the transport agent had lifted MDM rice from the FCI godown but didn’t deliver the same to the scheduled schools.
Another audit held by the School and Mass Education Department has also confirmed it. “We got the AG audit report in January and carried out an audit into the said irregularities till February 23 and then we intimated it to district Collector. We are going to lodge an FIR against the transporter agent of Tusura and Loisinga blocks,” said District Education Officer Sanjiv Kumar Singh.
