CONG MOVES SEC OVER
RETIREMENT AGE HIKE
Saturday, 28 June
2014 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR | in Bhubaneswar
The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) on Friday moved the
State Election Commission (SEC) demanding legal action against the State
Government for allegedly violating the model code of conduct enforced for the
July 1 Balangir and Titlagarh municipality elections by announcing hike in the retirement age of its employees from 58 years to 60 in
public.
“Undoubtedly, the decision on the retirement age of
Government employees is appreciable. But the way the Government announced it
was not appropriate so far as the existing model code of conduct for the
municipal elections and the ongoing session of the Assembly are concerned,”
said PCCs Vice-President Sibananda Ray.
Submitting a memorandum to the SEC, the party
demanded immediate legal action against the Government.
