The
police on Wednesday night recovered the body of a woman hanging from a tree in
a jungle near Titilagarh of Balangir district. She was allegedly raped and
murdered, sources said.
The
middle-aged woman was missing from Tuesday evening, said her husband, who had
lodged a report at the local police station on Wednesday morning in this
regard. At the evening, some residents of Dumerbahal, 12 km from Titilagarh,
saw the woman’s body hanging from a tree in the jungle near the village.
The police reached the spot and recovered the body.
The
police confirmed that she was murdered. The circumstantial evidences showed
that she was raped before the murder, sources said. There were many injury
marks on her body. “After the postmortem report, the picture would be clear,”
said Titilagarh SDPO Dillip Purohit.
