Acting on a tip-off, under the direction of Balangir SP Awinashks Kumar, a team of officials comprising representatives of CDMO Dr Vikrant Kumar, Executive Magistrate BC Pattnaik, Special Squad led by Inspector Ranjan Pattanik and Town police station Inspector-in-Charge Bimalendu Satpathy, raided the Harihar Hospital, located near the District Headquarters Hospital here on Sunday.

According to sources, during the raid the owner of the hospital could not show valid documents in support of hospital and other required documents. As the owner could not show the required legal papers, the team decided to seal the hospital. All the indoor patients were discharged and those were in critical conditions were admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital.

Official sources said the Harihar Hospital, which had first started as a nursing home, should have displayed the registration certificate of the hospital at its entrance. Moreover, the hospital is supposed to have the required number of qualified nurses. While the raid was going on, the doctor, Narendra Sahu, who was running all affairs of the hospital, left the place unnoticed.

It has been noticed that the hospital does not have adequate number of trained and qualified nurses to run it, said CDMO Dr Kindo, when contacted. “We are waiting for the report of technical team. Once we get the report, the legal process will be initiated,” informed Town PS IIC Satpathy.
