A newborn baby slipped from the hands of a nurse at the Balangir District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) on Thursday night, making condition of the infant further critical.
Mamata Tandi (24) of Beleikani village had given birth to a boy child at the hospital. While the delivery was carried out, the child slipped from the hands of the nurse.
The infant sustained injuries and was shifted to the SNCU unit. As the baby’s condition deteriorated, he was referred to Burla medical college hospital for further treatment. “I have ordered an inquiry into the incident,” said Balangir CDMO Dr RN Tripathy.
