Wildlife Week held at Balangir village  (Pix)

Balangir: To generate awareness among masses, especially rural people, about protection of wildlife and forest, the Wildlife Week was observed at village Sirabahal, 15 km from here, on Friday. Balangir DFO Samir Kumar Satpathy, Honourary Wildlife Warden Sudhir Kumar Mishra, ACFs Goutam Naik and NK Jaisingh and Range Officer BC Roul spoke on the growing threat to wild animals due to poaching, destruction of their habitat and loss of forest cover and the need for protection of wild animals and preservation of forest. An interactive session was also held on villagers’ query on how to get compensation for damage caused by wild animal
