After short gap, jaundice has again gripped
Balangir town. Sources said as many as 24 people in Sudpada area under the
Balangir Municipality are affected with the disease and admitted at the
District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) till Saturday evening. “The situation is
under control. Jaundice broke out there due to consumption of contaminated pipe
water supplied to the area, said Balangir CDMO Dr RN Tripathy, adding “We have
informed district Collector M Muthukumar about this and requested him to supply
water through tanker in that area”. Besides, several teams are carrying out
door to door survey in that area and sensitising people to drink safe water,
added the CDMO.
