Acting on a tipoff, a police team nabbed absconding criminal Jiten Deep (38) of Balangir from Therubhali in Rayagada district on Monday, informed Balangir SP Ashis Singh at Press conference here.
Jiten was involved in cases like tender fixing, land grabbing and collection of extortion from business men contactors.
He along with his friend Timan Kumbhar and other associates was spreading terror and carrying out illegal activities, said Singh.
Singh said Jiten has many cases in his name in both Balangir town police station and Sadar police station. Though he had got bail in some cases, yet he has violated bail conditions, said Singh.
“I was in my in-laws’ house for last four months. Police picked up me from there and I do not know why they have arrested me. I have been falsely implicated,” Jiten told reporters.
