Rehabilitation colony for displaced                                                 people to take up by January;

Bolangir :The flood water of the lower Suktel on Sunday entered in to village Kumia pali in Lower Suktel irrigation project area affecting villagers there. On Sunday afternoon (4pm),Lower Suktel Dam authority released the second flood water, in view of heavy rainfall in catchment area and the stored water level reaching its full capacity cautioned  villagers not to go near the river.

 

 The  water of  Suktel River,stored in the dam swelled and ,submerged the paddy field and inundated houses on  near the river side, affecting the normal life of Kumiapali villagers badly on Sunday.

 A total of 70 tribal families of Kumiapali village are staying in the village in the Submerged area.They are yet to accept the compensation demanding fulfilment of their various demands and have not  vacated the  village till today.

We have opened five gates and water has been receded .The situation at Kumiapali village is normal now.

We hope to start construction of the rehabilitation colony near the village of Kumiapali by January next, says Chief Engineer of Lower Suktel Surendra Bhoi .
