Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is understood to have accepted many practical suggestions made by District Collectors on effective implementation of various schemes on the first day of the three-day DMs’ conference on Sunday.
The suggestions made by Balangir Collector Ashish Thakre, Nayagarh’s Arindam Dakua and Dhenkanal’s Bhupendra Singh Poonia were very positive and out of box thinking, according to sources.
Five groups of Collectors were formed to suggest ways to the Government on how to effectively implement schemes like rural housing, drinking water, paddy procurement, Forest Rights Act, various schemes for farmers and students.
Each group had two moderators from among departmental Secretaries and Directors and they discussed issues in separate conference halls.
Chief Minister Patnaik and Chief Secretary AP Padhi moved from room to room and sought their view points.

General Administration Special Secretary Ashok Kumar Meena coordinated the workshop which was attended by Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries and other senior officials, sources said.
