NARASINGHA HAS QUERIES ON RAILWAY MOU

The MoU signed between the Government of Odisha and the Railway Ministry for the Khordha-Balangir railway line project is a welcome step, but at the same time it raises a few queries whether agreement would be worked out.

This was stated by Leader of Opposition in Assembly and Congress veteran Narsingha Mishra while speaking to the media here on Monday.

 The query rises because long years have passed in the meanwhile and the project has not been completed. Moreover, the land over which the railway line would pass from Nayagarh to Balangir has been neither identified nor acquired, said Mishra.

On the issue of development of traditional water bodies including Bandha and Mudakata in Balangir district, Mishra said, “I have written letters to Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti seeking Rs 100 crore. Once the fund is sanctioned, it would ensure development of 14 water bodies of Balangir town and 44 water bodies of Balangir and Deogan blocks in the first phase.”

Mishra, however, declined to answer a question why 12 Congress MLAs camping in New Delhi.
