PARSURAM MURDER: ONE CONVICT SENT TO JAIL

Dhubei Podha, one of the
three living convicts of the 1974-Parsuram Satpathy murder case, was sent to
jail by police on Friday. Podha (69), who had committed the crime at the age of
28, was found guilty along with eight others by the Odisha High Court recently.
However, six of the convicts have already died. Besides Podha, the two other
convicts alive are former Kantabanji MLA Prasanna Pal and Artatrana Singh Deo,
against whom the Balangir Sessions Court has issued arrest warrants. The High
Court had on May 5 awarded life imprisonment to the nine persons involved in
the murder of Parsuram Satpathy, a top youth leader and a journalist in 1974.
The convicts had attacked Satpathy and crushed him under a jeep here.
