Even though the Government has issued strict orders to the
teachers not to stop distribution of Mid Day Meals (MDM) in drought-hit areas
during the summer vacation, yet, according to reports, the MDM is not being
given to school students for the last three months in the Upper Primary School
at Thelko Chappar village under Patnagrah block.
The teacher is not coming to the
school regularly for the last three months. The cooks and helpers engaged there
have also not received their wages for the last four months. The MDM
distribution has been stopped in toto in the school, said Promod Bagarti, a
social activist.
“This is a clear violation of the
Government guidelines. Let the administration take necessary measures to resume
the MDM to students,” Bagarti demanded.
